Lifting Up Women’s Leadership with Walker's Legacy

Madam C. J. Walker exhibited an entrepreneurial spirit in an age that denied her voice, her talents, and even her full humanity. Today, we celebrate women who have achieved in an age that still has much more work to do lifting up women’s leadership in business and across our communities.
As Banks Chair in the Senate, and the first person of color to hold this position, I see promoting access to capital and MWBE businesses as a major priority. We need more women leaders in government, media, arts, education, and throughout our society. Through building connections and empowering women, Walker’s Legacy and all the honorees help move us towards a time when women’s contributions are fully recognized. I join in celebrating your success.
