Brooks Releases Statement Following Passage of Bill Honoring Detective Steven McDonald
Sen. John Brooks
June 7, 2017
Senator John Brooks (SD-8) released the below statement following the passage of S. 6549, which renames a portion of the Southern State Parkway as "Detective Steven McDonald Memorial Highway."
Senator Brooks said, "I am so proud, yet deeply humbled, to co sponsor the bill to rename the Southern State Parkway in honor of Detective Steven McDonald. Detective McDonald exemplified a life of service and goodwill towards others. As a man who embodied the healing power of forgiveness, we hope to inspire all who travel this parkway to rise to their better selves, whether that be in service to others, or, in choosing forgiveness as a personal quality to embrace. Simply, the world is a better place because of Detective McDonald."
