(Middletown, NY)- State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/C/I-Mt. Hope) announced today that SUNY Delhi has been awarded a $100,000 grant for the purchase of equipment for the college’s mechatronics design program. The grant was secured through the State and Municipal Facilities Program, funding for which was appropriated in the 2017-2018 State Budget.
SUNY Delhi has identified applied learning as the college’s unique niche in higher education. Applied learning prepares technicians for immediate employment. At SUNY Delhi, the greatest number of applied learning opportunities take place in the college’s School of Technology, through programs ranging from Construction Management to Integrated Energy Systems and from Mechatronics to Welding.
“I commend President Laliberte and SUNY Delhi for their emphasis on allied learning opportunities for their students,” said Senator Bonacic. “I’m confident that this grant will be put to good use in providing a leg up to SUNY Delhi students when they are looking for a job after they graduate.”
Said SUNY Delhi President Michael Laliberte, “I would like to thank Senator Bonacic for his continued advocacy on behalf of SUNY Delhi’s students, faculty and staff. Thanks to SUNY Delhi’s emphasis on applied learning, our graduates are prepared to compete in the global workforce. This grant to our Mechatronics program will make graduates even more attractive to employers by expanding opportunities for experience using industry-quality equipment.”
