March 7, 2017
(Middletown, NY)-State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/C/I-Mt. Hope) announced today that the Village of Delhi will receive a $100,000 grant for improvements to the Village’s Water District. The Funding was secured through the State Municipal Facilities Program, which was appropriated in the 2016-2017 State Budget.
The Village of Delhi is proposing to extend the service area of their current water system to serve an existing local motel that is on a private well. The funding will also help with a larger project that the Village is undertaking to install a new water well and replace a segment of piping which serves a local hospital, among other residential and commercial properties.
“I’m happy to work with the Village of Delhi to provide this grant which will improve the Village’s water infrastructure,” said Senator Bonacic. “In addition, this funding will save the Village of Delhi taxpayers money.”
Village of Delhi Mayor Richard Maxey said, “The Village of Delhi is pleased that Senator Bonacic sees the importance of a capital project grant of $100,000 to improve and expand our water system. The improvement will provide an updated water system to Delaware Academy, O’Connor Hospital and another local business, as well as local residents on Andes Road and Delaware Ave.”
