Senator Bonacic Announces $50,000 Grant for the Town of Thompson
May 2, 2017
(Albany, NY)- State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/C/I-Mt Hope) announced today that the Town of Thompson will receive a $50,000 grant for the construction of a salt shed to assist in Town operations. The grant was secured through the State and Municipal Facilities program, money for which was appropriated in the 2016-2017 State Budget.
The Town of Thompson is in the planning stages of constructing a salt storage facility near Rock Hill off of exit 108. The new facility is needed to service the new Montreign Resort, as well as the east side of the Town. Montreign has agreed to share the cost and maintenance of the salt shed.
“With the construction of Montreign steadily moving along, projects like this will allow the Town of Thompson to continue serving the residents, as well as the visitors who will be coming once the resort is completed,” said Senator Bonacic. “It will also have the added benefit of saving the town’s taxpayers money.”
Said Town of Thompson Supervisor William Rieber, “These funds will be applied for construction of a salt shed near exit 108 on land that was donated to the town by New York State. This construction will greatly improve service to the taxpayers of the Town of Thompson and to the 4 million visitors per year we expect coming to our Town to enjoy the Montreign Resort Casino and Waterpark.”
