Senator Bonacic Announces $50,000 Grant for the Town of Walton
February 1, 2017
(Albany, NY)- Senator John J. Bonacic (R/C/I-Mt. Hope) announced today that the Town of Walton will receive a $50,000 grant to be used for a new roof on the Town’s highway salt shed roof and renovations to Town Hall. The grant was secured through the State Municipal Facilities Program, funding for which was appropriated in the 2016-2017 State Budget.
Currently, the shingles on the salt shed have exceeded the manufacturer's recommended life expectancy; the Town expects to use approximately $30,000 on this project. It plans to use the rest of the grant for improvements at Town Hall, including shingling a portion of the roof, and sealing the parking lot.
“Improvements to the salt shed and Town Hall will improve the quality of life for the residents of Walton,” said Senator Bonacic. “In addition, this grant will save local taxpayers money.”
Town of Walton Supervisor Charles Gregory said, “Time and again Senator Bonacic has come through for the people of Walton, and this time is no different. We truly appreciate his efforts.”
