October 26, 2017
(Middletown, NY)- State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/C/I-Mt. Hope) announced today that Sullivan County has been awarded a $75,000 grant to help with the purchase of an emergency generator for the county’s Government Center in Monticello. The grant was secured through the State and Municipal Facilities Program, funding for which was appropriated in the 2017-2018 State Budget.
“The purchase of an emergency generator is crucial to provide power at the Government Center in the case of inclement weather or emergency situation,” said Senator Bonacic. “In addition, it will save taxpayers in Sullivan County money.”
“A backup power generator is long overdue at the Government Center, which is the nexus of Sullivan County government operations,” noted Sullivan County Manager Josh Potosek. “As the County continues to grow, so does our commitment to public safety and maintaining government functions. I thank Senator Bonacic for securing funding to purchase and install this much-needed piece of equipment, which will ensure that this critical facility can serve the public during emergencies and outages.”
