March 24, 2017
(Albany, NY)- State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/C/I-Mt. Hope) announced today that the Town of New Paltz has been awarded a $75,000 grant to make improvements to the Town pool. The funding was secured through the State and Municipal Facilities Program, money that was appropriated in the 2016-2017 State Budget.
The Town of New Paltz town pool is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day and serves over 35,000 visitors annually. In addition to the recreational opportunities the pool offers, it also provides for 44 seasonal jobs, most of them for teens and young adults. This grant will go towards the repair of the pools liner.
“The Town of New Paltz town pool benefits the community in many ways, by not only providing great recreational opportunities for residents, but also job opportunities,” said Senator Bonacic. “I’m pleased to have worked with the Town to provide this grant, which will help make the necessary repairs to the pool, but also save the local taxpayers money.”
Said Town of New Paltz Supervisor Neil Bettez, “This $75,000 grant will help ensure that our residents will able to enjoy our town pool for years to come. I thank Senator Bonacic for his continued advocacy on behalf of the residents of the Town of New Paltz."
