(Albany, NY)- Senator John J. Bonacic (R/C/I-Mt. Hope) is pleased to announce that the Village of Goshen will receive a $75, 000 grant for the construction of new sidewalks on Greenwich Avenue in the Village. The grant was secured through the State Municipal Facilities Program, funding for which was secured in the 2016-2017 State Budget.
Currently, the sidewalk in disrepair and walking on in, especially in inclement weather, can be dangerous. By reconstructing the sidewalk, residents will be able to safely travel to the commercial corridor on Matthews Street from downtown. Reconstructing the sidewalk will also improve the aesthetic and increase opportunities for economic development.
“I’m pleased to have secured this grant for the Village of Goshen which will help with construction of new sidewalks on Greenwich Ave,” said Senator Bonacic. “This grant will improve public safety, help with economic development, and save Village of Goshen taxpayers money.”
Village of Goshen Mayor Kyle Roddey said, "The Village of Goshen is extremely thankful to Senator Bonacic for providing this opportunity to increase safety and walkability. By constructing new sidewalks on Greenwich Ave, it will facilitate economic development and improve pedestrian safety."
