Senator Bonacic Announces over $11 Million for Paving and Repairs to Roads in the 42nd Senate District

(Middletown, NY)- State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/C/I-Mt. Hope) announced today over $11 million dollars for projects to repair and pave state roads in the 42nd Senate District. The total distance of miles set to be repaired is 44.1. The funds are part of a total $403.3 million for pavement improvements on nearly 1,700 miles of roadway across New York State, included budgeted capital construction funds and $100 million in new funding.

The work taking place in the 42nd Senate District includes:

• 28 miles on Route 17 between Arden Road and the Rockland County line in the Town of Tuxedo, Orange County (an estimated $6.1 million);
• 1.3 miles on Route 52 from the west of Tamarack Road to Birchall Road in Wawarsing, Ulster County ($750,000);
• 3.6 miles of Route 209 from Route 52 in the Village of Ellenville to the Rondout Creek in the Town of Wawarsing in Ulster County ($1.2 million); and
• 11.2 miles on Route 97 from Route 5S to County Route 23 in the Town of Highland, Sullivan County ($3.3 million)

“My colleagues and I in the Senate Republican Conference have made it a priority to increase funding for upstate roads and bridges in our recent State Budget’s,” said Senator Bonacic. “This funding will ensure that motorists in the Hudson Valley and Catskills can travel safely on our state roads, while also improving the connectivity of our region.”

The projects are scheduled to be finished this year.
