July 18, 2017
(Middletown, NY)- State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/C/I-Mt. Hope) announced today that he has secured $50,000 for Safe Homes of Orange County. The money for Safe Homes is part of a larger pot of funding made available in the FY 2017-2018 State Budget (Chapter 53 of 2017), which was approved earlier this year. The specific money for Safe Homes was allocated in a resolution at the end of the legislative session. The $50,000 will be used for programs that prevent domestic violence and aid victims of domestic violence.
“I have always been a strong supporter of the great work being done by Safe Homes of Orange County,” said Senator Bonacic. “I am pleased to secure this funding for Safe Homes because I know they will use it positively in the ongoing battle to end the scourge of domestic violence.”
Kellyann Kostyal-Larrier, Executive Director of Safe Homes of Orange County said, “Senator Bonacic has been a longtime supporter and friend to Safe Homes of Orange County. His unwavering commitment to survivors and their families has had significant impact over the years. Funding has allowed for the continuation of vital programming that provides healing and support to those accessing services. Domestic violence impacts everyone within a community and working together is when we can have our greatest impact. This funding will continue to support programming for victims of domestic violence and their families in Orange County.”
Safe Homes of Orange County is a non-for-profit organization based in Newburgh whose mission is to work toward the elimination of intimate partner violence and human trafficking by providing comprehensive support services to victims and their children, and by increasing public awareness about these issues and encouraging accountability for perpetrators.
