2016 Report of the NYS Senate Standing Committee on Local Government

Without question, local governments – led by the dedicated, innovative, community-minded men and women who serve in them – are the originators of many good ideas and public policies. Our Senate Local Government Committee’s many bi-partisan successes achieved throughout the 2016 Session reflect this fact. Many of the legislative initiatives considered by our Committee that successfully became State Law either originated from a local government or were initiated at a locality’s home rule request and carried forward by a member of our State Senate.
