Help for Hurricane Victims

In light of all of the horrific natural disasters that have recently occurred, New Yorkers are doing their part by assisting in the relief efforts any way they can. Several organizations are accepting either monetary donations or supplies on behalf of those affected by hurricanes Harvey, Irma, Maria or the earthquakes in Mexico. If you are looking for ways to help, here are some opportunities to choose from:
Red Cross: You can specify where you would like your monetary donation to go (Disaster Relief, Hurricane Maria, Hurricane Irma, Hurricane Harvey, Where It Is Needed Most).
UNICEF USA: They are accepting monetary donations on behalf of Hurricane Maria victims (You can also choose the option “Use my gift wherever it is most needed” to help those impacted by Hurricane Irma and the earthquakes in Mexico).
The Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City: They are accepting monetary donations for Hurricane Harvey, Hurricane Irma, and Hurricane Maria. Supplies are also being collected, which include:
- Diapers
- Baby food
- Batteries
- First aid supplies
- Feminine hygiene products
There are 18 drop sites accepting donations during the hours of 7 am through 9 pm. Drop-off site locations can be found here.
Empire State Relief and Recovery Effort for Puerto Rico: They provide links and locations where you can drop-off supplies or provide monetary donations to help the people of Puerto Rico.
The drop-off sites will be accepting donations from 9 am to 6 pm. Drop-off site locations can be found here.
Additional Nassau County locations are still pending.
