Additional Resources for Communities Impacted by Lake Ontario Flooding
For local municipalities:
- $10 million in state funding has been available to assist eligible local municipalities.
- The new investment will support flood recovery efforts including repairs to flood walls, roads, sidewalks and culverts, as well as public water and sewer infrastructure.
- The funding is made available through New York State Home and Community Renewal.
- The program will be open to applications for funding from municipal governments in Cayuga, Monroe, and Wayne Counties – among the other counties that were identified in Governor Cuomo’s May 2, 2017 emergency declaration.
For small businesses:
- $5 million in grants available for small businesses that have experienced physical damage or loss as a result of the flooding in communities along Lake Ontario.
- Up to $20,000 to support the repair or replacement of damaged or destroyed real propoerty and other tangible assets, including equipment, furniture, fixtures, supplies and inventory.
- Funding will be provided through Empire State Development.
- Applications will be made available in June.
The New York State Emergency Response Mobile Command Centers will be in the 54th District this week. Additionally, those who are not able to visit Mobile Command Centers can call the Department’s Disaster Hotline at 1-800-339-1759, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 8 pm for help with insurance related issues.

If you are unable to visit a mobile location, the Department of Environmental Conservation will continue to provide support to communities through expedited permitting, site inspections, and technical guidance at regional offices.
