Ithaca, N.Y., October 17—State Senator Tom O’Mara (R,C,I-Big Flats) recently toured the BorgWarner Morse Systems Ithaca manufacturing facility and took the occasion to highlight the importance of manufacturing to the regional and statewide economies.
O’Mara said, “The Southern Tier and Finger Lakes regions remain home to world-class manufacturers like BorgWarner Morse Systems Ithaca. I appreciated the opportunity to tour the local plant, better understand the high-quality work being done there and, most importantly, praise this local craftsmanship. A foundation of manufacturing is critical to the short- and long-term strength of the regional, statewide, and national economies. We need to keep taking tax relief, regulatory reform, and other actions at every level of government to do what we can to ensure a business climate that helps our manufacturers expand, thrive, and create more good jobs for local workers.”
BorgWarner Morse Systems Ithaca is a worldwide leader in the design and manufacturing of automotive chain systems and components for engine timing, automatic transmission, and four-wheel drive applications. Headquartered in Ithaca, it operates 13 facilities in seven countries and employs more than 2,800 workers.
O’Mara said that approximately 70% of the vehicles on the road around the world carry a Morse Systems product. The company sells directly to major automotive manufacturers including Ford, General Motors, and Chrysler.
