Corning, N.Y., August 17--In Corning yesterday, New York Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul joined other state and local leaders at a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the completion of phase- one of the new, 21,000 square-foot Corning Community College Health Education Center.
Beginning this fall, the state-of-the-art facility will house the college's Nursing and Community and Public Health academic programs.
Senator O'Mara said, "The CCC Health Education Center is an exciting public-private partnership that marks a critical addition to the long-term economic, educational, and health care quality and strength of the city of Corning, Steuben County, and the entire Southern Tier region. We are grateful for the ongoing commitment and investment of our state, local, and private-sector leaders on this timely, state-of-the-art, difference-making project."
Governor Andrew Cuomo said, "This is a major investment for the Southern Tier and is proof positive that by capitalizing on regional assets, we will continue to attract top-level private investment and foster job growth for New Yorkers. By offering the best training opportunities for the next generation of workers, we're not only ensuring top-notch health care for families across New York, we are providing quality jobs for hard-working men and women while helping this region soar."
Assemblyman Phil Palmesano said, "This is truly a transformational project for the city of Corning and Steuben County. The Corning Community College Health Education Center will be a cornerstone of health care across the Southern Tier region. It's going to provide exciting, long-term benefits for local workers, the local economy and, most important, the quality of local health care for area residents. We appreciate the continued commitment of Governor Cuomo and his administration, our Regional Economic Development Council, and all of the local public and private-sector leaders who have been so instrumental every step of the way."
