President Wayne Spence and members of the New York State Public Employees Federation (PEF) invite Senator Montgomery to address their open membership meeting. For almost four decades, PEF has been representing professional, scientific, and technical state employees in positions including nurses, accountants, engineers and many more. Today, PEF has grown into a membership of more than 50,000 workers.
In her remarks, Senator Montgomery took the opportunity to thank PEF members for their service to the people of New York State and discussed the importance of the State Constitution and protections guaranteed to every resident. Thanks in part to the New York State Constitution, our state has some of the strongest labor protections of any state in the country including.
- Public employee pension and retirement benefits
- Guarantees minimum wage for workers
- Worker’s compensation protection.
- Unions’ right to organize and bargain collectively.
- Prevention of private corporations from profiting off prison labor
