How would you spend $1 million to improve our neighborhood?

Our first first meeting of Participatory Budgeting in the 20th Senate District exceeded our greatest expectations. We are already getting a large number of ideas coming from the community on how to spend the $1 million allocated to this important process.
It was particularly rewarding to see the diversity of the district, with many of our Central Brooklyn neighborhoods well represented from Brownsville to Prospect Lefferts to Park Slope, and beyond. Participatory Budgeting is geared towards giving a voice to communities that are not always well represented and it was outstanding that the South Asian community of Crown Heights came out in force during this month of Ramadan.
Thanks to Oma Holloway of Bridge Street Development for leading the discussion and engaging the many questions from our friends and neighbors. Stay tuned for more details and please keep sending in your ideas with this link: https://www.nysenate.gov/senators/jesse-hamilton/pb
Nominations close on June 4th!
