Redouble Our Commitment to Unions

Having been a member of DC37 for twenty-eight years, I know first-hand the value of unions. Indeed, unions have been at the core of upholding workers’ rights for generations. The Labor Movement today builds on a legacy of protecting worker safety, fighting for fair wages, and upholding the value of shared prosperity.
The Janus v. AFSCME ruling puts obstacles in the way of our public sector unions expanding upon those important past successes. We must redouble our commitment given the ongoing efforts to undermine labor. Even with this wrongheaded decision of five justices, working men and women must recommit to remaining engaged to protect against the erosion of our rights and the Labor Movement must continue to uphold values central to every community fully participating in the American Dream.
