Senator Bonacic Announces $100,000 Grant for the Town of Hamden
March 20, 2018
(Middletown, NY)- State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/C/I-Mt. Hope) is pleased to announce that the Town of Hamden has been awarded a $100,000 grant for upgrades to the Hamden Water District. The grant was secured through the State Municipal Facilities Program, money for which was appropriated in the 2017-2018 State Budget.
In 2000 the entire Hamden Water District was upgraded except for a portion on the south side of NYS Route 10. The 900 feet section serves 6 businesses and approximately 20 individuals. The $100,000 grant would go towards the total replacement of the 900ft. section and involve a set of directional drills under the State Highway, as well as sidewalk replacement and pavement repairs.
“I’m pleased to be able to assist the Town of Hamden in addressing one of its critical infrastructure needs,” said Senator Bonacic. “This project will save the taxpayers in Hamden money, while also providing safe, clean water for residents and visitors.”
Town of Hamden Supervisor Wayne Marshfield said, “The Town of Hamden is extremely thankful for the financial help from our Senator Bonacic for such an important project aimed towards the long-term safety of our residents. Without this help from our Senator, our small communities would only delay or never perform these much-needed projects. It is impressive to see that our Senate representative is here to help all communities, large and small, without regard to political affiliations.”
