Senator Bonacic Announces $100,000 Grant for the Town of Warwick
March 13, 2018
(Middletown, NY)- State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/C/I-Mt. Hope) announced today that the Town of Warwick has been awarded a $100,000 grant for the purchase of a plow truck for the Warwick DPW. The grant was secured through the State and Municipal Facilities Program, funding for which was appropriated in the 2017-2018 State Budget.
The Town of Warwick has an aging plow truck fleet, with 13 vehicles that over 10 years in age. The Town currently has no spare trucks should one break down. A new plow truck will ensure that the Town can keep its roads open for travel by emergency services and the public.
“I’m pleased to work with Supervisor Sweeton and the Town of Warwick to provide this important funding for a new plow truck,” said Senator Bonacic. “The Town of Warwick has 220 miles of road and this grant will allow the highway department to keep the roads clear and safe during inclement weather. It will also save local taxpayers money.”
Town of Warwick Supervisor Mike Sweeton commented, “I want to thank Senator Bonacic for securing a grant that will allow the Town to replace one of its aging snow plow trucks. Without this $100,000 grant, it would be impossible for the Town to afford this vital piece of equipment that is critical to keeping our roads open and safe for our residents. We are grateful for the Senator’s continued support of the Town of Warwick.”
