Senator Bonacic Announces $100,000 Grant for the Village of Walton
January 26, 2018
(Middletown, NY)-State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/C/I-Mt. Hope) announced today that the Village of Walton has been awarded a $100,000 grant for the rehabilitation of Shepard Street. The grant was secured through the State and Municipal Facilities Program, funding for which was secured in the 2017-2018 State Budget.
A portion of Shepard Street in the Village has a failing embankment and requires rehabilitation to prevent further failure which would force a closure of the roadway. The proposed remediation of the street includes repair of the failed section of slope, replacement of the failing guardrail, new curbing, new storm drainage piping and basins and a new street surface.
“This is a critical infrastructure project that will ensure the safety of motorists and pedestrians in the Village of Walton,” said Senator Bonacic. “Additionally, this grant will save the taxpayers in the Village money.”
Mayor of Village of Walton Edward Snow said, "I want to thank Senator Bonacic for his continued support of the Village of Walton and our taxpayers. This grant will ensure that our residents can safely travel through the Village."
