(Middletown, NY)-State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/C/I-Mt. Hope) announced today that the Village of Warwick has been awarded a $50,000 grant for construction of a new parking lot at Veterans’ Memorial Park. The grant was secured through the State and Municipal Facilities Program, funding for which was appropriated in the 2017-2018 State Budget.
The new parking area will provide parking spaces for the nearby baseball fields, concession stand and football practice areas. It will also provide parking for patrons of various festivals that are held in the park. The new parking area will have a paved surface that will offer a stabilized area for people to park, rather than the existing grass/gravel surface.
“I’m pleased to work with the Village of Warwick to provide this grant to construct parking at Veterans’ Memorial Park,” said Senator Bonacic. “In addition to the new parking, this grant will save Village of Warwick taxpayers money.”
Village of Warwick Mayor Michael Newhard added, “The Village of Warwick is very pleased to receive funding through the State and Municipal Facilities Program. We are grateful to Senator Bonacic for his help in receiving this important funding for the upgrade of the Memorial Park parking lot.”
