Senator Serrano and Colleagues Urge Strong Regulations to End Coal Generation
September 4, 2018
Senator Serrano joined Senator Liz Krueger and 14 other Senators in sending a letter to Governor Andrew Cuomo calling for the state Department of Environmental Conservation to enact strong regulations to ensure that as New York’s remaining coal-fired power plants retire, they are not replaced with expensive and unsafe fossil fuels or biomass.
“As we battle against climate change and New York transitions to renewable energy, we must ensure that a robust policy framework is in place so that we are not trading one dirty fossil fuel for others that would do equal harm to our environment and public health.”
