Senator Serrano partnered with Governor Cuomo for an Emergency Preparedness Workshop on the Upper West Side at the JASA Senior Center. The two-hour training was led by Sergeant Contreras & Lieutenant Coronado of the National Guard. Participants were advised on developing a family emergency plan, stocking up on emergency supplies, and how to build and maintain a supply kit that will keep loved ones safe in an emergency.
"Hurricane season in New York lasts from August to October, and winter storms with heavy snowfall, freezing temperatures, and icy conditions can occur any time from November to as late as March. Keeping yourself and your family prepared with supplies and information can make all the difference in how you make it through an emergency situation. It's my hope that attendees will share this information with their loved ones to ensure their safety if disaster strikes."
