Senator Robach Honors Brighton's Louise Novros as a New York State Senate "Woman of Distinction"

Senator Joe Robach is pleased to announce that Louise Novros will be recognized as a 2018 New York State Senate Woman of Distinction in Albany.

Since 1985, Louise Novros has been fixture of the Brighton community, serving in various capacities and in any way she could to make her community a place where people want to live and stay by encouraging a more fulfilling, sustainable, and stress-free life.

From 2005 to 2017, Louise Novros served as an elected member of the Brighton Town Council where she worked tirelessly on behalf of her constituents and cooperatively with fellow leaders from across the area. She was instrumental in bringing several large-scale events to the Town of Brighton, including founding the “Brighton Clean Sweep,” that, for eleven years annually, attracted 450 volunteers to do community clean-up and established a semi-annual Electronics Recycling, Shredding and Pharmaceutical “Take Back” program.

“I am proud to honor Louise Novros for her continued dedication to the people of the Town of Brighton and our community as a whole,” said Senator Robach. “Her passion for our community is undeniable, and her unwavering support for the people she served is to be greatly admired. Without a doubt, she is a most deserving ‘Woman of Distinction’ from the 56th Senate District.” 

Louise Novros was the founder of the Roselawn Neighborhood Association and the Brighton Neighbors United. Additionally, Louise served on the Brighton Master Plan Committee, the Brighton Beautification Committee and the Brighton Communications Task Force, while also serving as an Election Inspector.  

The “Woman of Distinction” program was created in 1998 as part of the Senate’s celebration of Women’s History Month and honors New York women who exemplify personal excellence, or whose professional achievements or act of courage, selflessness, integrity or perseverance serve as an example to all New Yorkers.

Louise Novros was recognized in a special ceremony on Tuesday, May 1st at the State Capitol in Albany. Her photograph and biography will be displayed in a public exhibit proclaiming the special contributions of exemplary New York women.
