Senator Robach's Week in Review

A new feature I am bringing to my website is a week update, “Senator Robach’s Week in Review,” on what has been happening in my Senate District and in Albany over the past week. This update will feature weekly highlights on my work in the 56th Senate District and at the State Capitol.

This week has been a busy one as Albany gets back in full swing as the 2018 Legislative Session begins. On Tuesday, the Senate passed my bill (S.365), which imposes greater fiscal discipline on state government by enacting a strict cap limiting the growth of state spending. This bill would also end the pattern of boom and bust cycle budgeting and create a rainy day fund to deal with possible budget shortfalls. I was honored to have this be the first piece of legislation passed by the Senate during this years’ session.

So often I hear from people in my district that they want policies that will make it easier for them and their families to stay in our state. Getting New York State on the path to fiscal responsibility is essential to keeping that dream alive. Click here to read my bill.

It has also been a busy week back in the district. This week, I have held several meetings with constituents and groups in my district office, as well as attending community events across the Rochester area.  

On Wednesday, I attended a roundtable discussion with the Hillside Family of Agencies regarding the important work they are doing across our community. On Thursday, I joined with my colleagues in government and the Rochester Regional Coalition against Human Trafficking to commemorate Human Trafficking Awareness Month and reiterate my support for doing everything we can as state to end the abuse and exploitation that leads to these terrible acts.

I was also proud be to attend the introduction of my friend, Jerome Underwood, as the new President & CEO of Action for a Better Community Friday morning. I know Jerome will to a terrific job for our community and the individuals and families ABC serves and a special thank you to former President & CEO James Norman for his many years of dedicated service. Additionally, I was excited to be on hand for a ribbon cutting ceremony for Title Boxing. Title Boxing is opening up at 3240 Monroe Ave., on the border of the Towns of Brighton and Pittsford.
