Senator Krueger and East Side Electeds Oppose Liquor License for 583 Park Avenue
July 17, 2018
New York - Today, State Senator Liz Krueger, joined by Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney and Councilmembers Keith Powers and Ben Kallos, wrote a letter to the State Liquor Authority opposing the application by The Rose Group for a liquor license at 583 Park Avenue. The location is covered by the “200 foot rule” which prohibits the issuance of a license to an establishment that is within 200 feet of a church or school. The Rose Group has made multiple efforts to get around this law, including pushing through state legislation in 2014 to create an exception to the 200 foot rule, which Governor Cuomo vetoed. Nothing has changed that would make this application legal now. The letter is available to download here, and can be viewed below.
