New York State Senator Michael H. Ranzenhofer and Unyts will be sponsoring an open-to-the-public blood drive during the 2018 Family Health Fair on Saturday, August 4th from 9 a.m. to noon at the Amherst Center for Senior Services, 370 John James Audubon Parkway.
“Shortages of all blood types occur during the summer months, and the rarest blood type is the one not on the shelf when it is needed by a patient. I hope that residents will consider giving the gift of life to their friends, family and neighbors during this year’s Health Fair,” said Ranzenhofer.
The demand for blood tends to outpace supply throughout the summer, making a blood donation critically important.
“Our local hospitals need to maintain an adequate supply of blood for emergency situations and it is up to Unyts’ Community Blood Service and the generosity of our donors to help provide safe levels of blood inventory. By giving blood with Unyts you are making sure your family, friends, neighbors and other members of the community have blood available when they need it,” said Unyts President & CEO Mark Simon.
To schedule an appointment, visit www.unytsblooddonor.org and enter Sponsor Code 001201, or call Unyts at (716) 512-7940. Walk-ins are always welcome.
More than 90 organizations will be offering a wide variety of health information, screenings and services at Senator Ranzenhofer’s Family Health Fair. The event is co-sponsored by Kaleida Health and the Amherst Center for Senior Services, in conjunction with Assemblyman Ray Walter.
