August 25th Community Update from Senator Shelley Mayer
August 25, 2018
Dear Friend:
During the past few weeks, I have been pleased to announce several capital grants to local public libraries including Harrison, North Castle, Tuckahoe, and Yonkers. Read more about these grants and how the libraries are using them in the section below.
Road improvements are critical to the economic vibrancy of our county. In the past week, there have been several substantial announcements regarding road improvements taking place in the 37th district. The "Last Mile" project on I-95 has begun under the direction of the NYS Thruway Authority, and a $5.1 million road resurfacing project directed by the State Department of Transportation is also underway. Read more about each of these projects in the section below.
This week, Governor Andrew Cuomo took a stand against a federal rule change which would allow schools to use federal funding to purchase firearms even though Congress expressly did not permit it in related legislation. I commend the Governor for his letter to New York State Education Commissioner MaryEllen Elia on this subject.
As always, if there is a concern you think my office can help you with, please don't hesitate to call us at 914-934-5250.
Warm regards,
Shelley B. Mayer
