Elmira, N.Y., September 25—State Senator Tom O’Mara (R-C, Big Flats) is among only nine state senators receiving the highest ranking, 100%, from Unshackle Upstate on the group’s 2017-18 Legislative Scorecard.
Unshackle Upstate is a pro-jobs, pro-taxpayer advocacy organization comprised of business and trade organizations representing every Upstate region.
The guide, release earlier today, ranks the voting record of every state legislator on pieces of legislation the Legislature considered over the past two legislative sessions, 2017 and 2018 that reflect the organization’s commitment to fiscal responsibility, pro-taxpayer initiatives, and private-sector economic growth. The full report card can be viewed on the Unshackle Upstate website (www.unshackleupstate.com).
“As we head toward another critical Election Day, Upstate voters deserve to know which state lawmakers are actually working to strengthen our economy,” said Michael Kracker, executive director of Unshackle Upstate. “Our new Legislative Scorecards set the record straight for voters by grading legislators based on their actions in Albany over the last two years. Voters who are concerned about jobs, taxes and the future of their community should take a long, hard look at their legislators’ grades before they head to the polls his November.”
O’Mara said, “I appreciate Unshackle Upstate’s strong advocacy and commitment on behalf of so many of the goals we share for the Southern Tier and Finger Lakes regions, and all of upstate New York. I am proud to be one-hundred percent behind this fight to keep state government’s attention focused on efforts to turn around the Upstate economy, create jobs, cut taxes, enact meaningful mandate relief and regulatory reform, revitalize manufacturing, and strengthen our local economies and communities.”
O’Mara has sponsored and strongly supported Senate legislation and other initiatives over the past several years aimed at turning around Upstate private-sector job growth through lower taxes, controlling state spending growth, regulatory and other fiscal reforms, mandate relief, and a renewed commitment to the manufacturing sector.
