Senator Montgomery celebrates the 63rd Annual Brotherhood Awards Banquet of Concord Baptist Church of Christ's William M. Moss Brotherhood.

Senator Montgomery joined the Concord Baptist Church family to celebrate The William M. Moss Brotherhood's 63rd Annual Brotherhood Awards Banquet. 

Founded in 1912 as the Young Men’s League, the organization was renamed to The William M. Moss Brotherhood in 1919, after the death of The Reverend William M. Moss. Reverend Moss was instrumental in the founding of the National Urban League, the Concord Literacy Society and many other local and national projects.  Today, the Brotherhood continues his legacy of service.

Senator Montgomery acknowledged Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. Gary V. Simpson and Executive Pastor Rev. Dr. Emma Jordan-Simpson for their spiritual leadership and for being a guiding light in all of our lives. The Senator also applauded the work of The William M. Moss Brotherhood and their commitment to creating an education pipeline for students in our community. Thanks to their dedication and hard work, funds from the banquet will provide scholarships to high school graduates.

The event featured Keynote Speaker and honoree: Jennifer Jones Austin, Esq., CEO & Executive Director of The Federation of Protestant Welfare Agencies. The evening's other awardees included:  Richard Flateau, Chair of Community Board 3; Wayne Devonish, Founder of 500 Men Making a Difference, Inc.; and Brother Edward Barringer.
