Senator Montgomery identifies some of the contradictions as it relates to how young people are treated in the Senate One-House Budget Resolution (R.4168) in response to the 2018-2019 Executive Budget submission. The Senator outlined her disappointments with the resolution and outlines its inconsistencies.
This document says what we think about young people in our state and opportunities for young people in our state… We say we care about young people but we are not willing to put in the resources or even support what we know works.”
Senator Montgomery comments focused on a $31.1 million cut to programs in higher education opportunity programs, the elimination of funding for My Brother's Keeper, and the lack of funding for other vital programs such as early college high school programs, alternatives to incarceration and Close to Home.
