Emergency Preparedness Training in East Harlem
August 5, 2019
On June 7, Senator Serrano partnered with Governor Cuomo for an Emergency Preparedness Workshop in East Harlem at the Carter Burden Center for Aging Covello Program. The two-hour training was led by Sergeant Contreras of the Air Force National Guard. Participants were advised on developing a family emergency plan, stocking up on emergency supplies, and how to build and maintain a supply kit that will keep loved ones safe in an emergency. Each participant received a free Citizen Preparedness Corps Emergency Response Starter Kit.
"During an emergency, the safety of our seniors should be a top priority. Making sure they are prepared with supplies and information can make all the difference. It's my hope that attendees will share this information with their loved ones to ensure they have a safety plan in place if disaster strikes."
