#PicsOfTheSixth Photo Contest Rules and Submission Guidelines

Senator Kevin Thomas is pleased to officially announce the “Pics of the Sixth” photo contest! High School Students (Grades 9-12) are invited to submit photos that reflect the unique character of their town and celebrate their community. There are five contest categories: Buildings & Landmarks, Hobbies & Passions, Life on the Island, Happiness, and Celebrating Culture. Winners will be recognized by Senator Thomas and have their work displayed in his District Office and on his website.
Eligibility: This contest is open to High School students (Grades 9-12) who reside or attend school within the Senator's District.
Photo Formats
Entries may be black and white, color prints, or digital images. Please read the specific guidelines for submitting your prints and digital images.
Photographer/Copyright
The original photographer must submit all entries. Please do not submit a photo taken by anyone but you. Your submission of the photo and entry form is your guarantee that you are the author of the photo submitted. Violation of this rule will result in automatic disqualification.
Number of Entries
Entry limit is one photo per category. Photographers may submit up to five (5) entries, one photo per category.
Photo Subject Restrictions
Photos must be appropriate for posting on both a public and or government website. Offensive or otherwise inappropriate content will not be considered. A judging committee retains sole discretion as to what constitutes inappropriate content. Photos containing recognizable people must be submitted by regular mail and accompanied by a signed model release form.
Submission
Digital photos may be submitted online through the online submission form on the Senator's website or by emailing a completed entry form and photo submission to dmedinaSD6@gmail.com. Allowed file types: gif jpg jpeg png tif pdf zip.
Print submissions may also be accepted. Prints may be mailed together with completed entry form to:

A completed contest entry form must accompany each entry. If you are submitting multiple entries, be sure each entry form corresponds with the desired photo.
Judging
Entries will be judged based on photographic quality, creativity, and success in conveying the Best Snaps within the district and unique character of your community in one of the contest categories. A panel of community leaders will judge the entries and all contest decisions are final. Entries that fail to comply with the Official Contest Rules will be disqualified.
Winners
Judges will select a first and second place-winning photo for each 6th Senate District community of the contest categories. If no eligible entries are submitted for a contest category, the judges may cancel that category. The panel may also include one or more honorable mention winners for categories with particularly high numbers of entries. Winners will be notified by phone and email approximately 3-4 weeks after the contest deadline using the information provided on the entry form.
Submitting Multiple Photos
If submitting multiple entries, number each print to match a corresponding entry form. Limit one image per category.
