Watkins Glen, N.Y., August 7—Approaching the final weekend of voting in USA Today’s 10 Best online competitions to decide America’s “Best Wine Region” and “Best Wine Festival," State Senator Tom O’Mara (R,C,I-Big Flats) and Assemblyman Phil Palmesano (R,C,I-Corning) today reminded area residents to keep voting every day for the Finger Lakes.
The Finger Lakes region earned the “Best Wine Region” designation in 2018.
The area legislators stressed that anyone can vote once a day, every day, on every Internet-capable device they have until the contests close on Monday, August 12, at noon.
In a joint statement, O’Mara and Palmesano said, “Area residents know the beauty and the value of the Finger Lakes wine region, but here’s a chance to let the nation know it too. It’s another outstanding opportunity to keep the Finger Lakes region on the national map and to show our pride in Finger Lakes wine country as a leading destination for visitors from around the globe, an absolute foundation of our leading tourism industry, and a cornerstone of our local culture and economy."
The local legislators have long singled out the Finger Lakes wine region for its unique contributions centered on 140 wineries and tasting rooms, four wine trails, more than 9,300 acres of vineyards, and 54,600 tons of grape production.
