O’Mara receives ‘State Legislative Award’ from CropLife America for leadership on agricultural and environmental issues

Albany, N.Y., March 14—CropLife America (CLA), America’s leading crop protection trade association, today presented State Senator Tom O’Mara (R,C,I-Big Flats) with the association’s 2018 “State Legislative Award.”

According to the CLA, O’Mara received the award for his “outstanding leadership in state legislative issues and strengthening the reputation and advancement of crop protection.”

O’Mara, who served as Chairman of the Senate Environmental Conservation committee from 2015 to 2018, said, “It has been my pleasure to have opportunities throughout my tenure in the State Legislature to focus on issues fundamentally important to the future of agriculture and farming, environmental conservation and protection, and public health and safety.  I appreciate this recognition from the CLA that this commitment has been worthwhile to advancing and promoting a safe, affordable, diverse, and sustainable food supply, as well as sources of renewable and alternative energy.”

O’Mara was one of three state-level leaders recognized by CLA for efforts to promote safe and environmentally sound crop protection strategies and technologies.  Representative Jerry Costello of the Illinois General Assembly and Hawaii Department of Agriculture Chairman Scott Enright also received the CLA’s 2018 “State Legislative Award.”

CLA Government Relations Director Riley Titus and CLA State Representative Barbara Ahern were in Albany this week to present O’Mara’s award.
