If you don’t think prisons in New York State have become institutions more focused on rehabilitation than punishment, ask a local correctional officer. This state has gone out of its way focusing on rehabilitation -- too far out of the way, many argue -- to the risk of correctional officers and prison staff who work in these dangerous environments day after day, night after night.
