National Grid to immediately lift Natural Gas Moratorium in Brooklyn

As part of an agreement with the state, National Grid has announced that it will lift its moratorium of Natural Gas services in Brooklyn, Queens and Long Island for approximately 2 years. They will begin to process new applications for services as well as restore connections for customers who were on hold.
National Grid will provide $7 million in assistance for customers to address the hardships they faced due to the moratorium. During this 2 year period, National Grid will also invest $8 million for new energy efficiency, gas conservation measures to reduce peak-day gas usage. A
National Grid outlines that they are planning to develop a long-term option to be agreed upon by the state by June 2020. For now the state Public Service Commission has placed an independent monitor to insure they are complying with the agreement.
