Senator Montgomery, D.A. Gonzalez, Assemblywoman Richardson, 100 Suits for 100 Men and Lu-Shawn Thompson Celebrate the Grand Opening of the Kenneth P. Thompson Boutique.

Senator Montgomery joins Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez, Assemblywoman Diana Richardson, Kevin Livingston, Founder and President of 100 Suits for 100 Men, and Mrs. Lu-Shawn Thompson, widow of the late DA Ken Thompson to celebrate the Grand Opening of the Kenneth P. Thompson Boutique.

The boutique pays tribute to fomer D.A. Kenneth P. Thompson and is the result of a collaboration between the DA’s office and Kevin Livingston, President and Founder of the not-for-profit organization 100 Suits For 100 Men. The boutique will play a key role in assisting formerly incarcerated men and women returning to the job force by providing them with professional attire to wear during their search for employment.

As a long-time criminal justice reform advocate and believer of second chances, Senator Montgomery expressed her gratitude to DA Gonzalez for his leadership in helping previously incarcerated men and women make a smooth and successful re-entry into our community. 

“Re-entry is so important. When you come home you need to be able to get a job. You need to be able to develop a skill, if you don’t already have one. You need to be able to go to college. You need to be able to come back and become a contributing, productive person in society and that’s what this does, said Senator Montgomery.”

The Kenneth P. Thompson Boutique is located within the DA’s Re-Entry Bureau and provides individuals enrolled in the DA’s re-entry programs with business attire at no cost.  The boutique is a direct reflection of Kenneth P. Thompson’s legacy to restored trust between the community and the criminal justice system.

Mrs. Thompson reflected "my husband would be so proud to have his name associated with 100 Suits for 100 Men and would have been an avid supporter of Kevin Livingston and his amazing work. He would also have been pleased that Eric Gonzalez and the Brooklyn DA’s office are continuing to keep his legacy alive by continuing to make strides in criminal justice reform.”

Senator Montgomery encourages all formerly incarcerated individuals to reach out to the DA’s Re-Entry Bureau for assistance as they transition back to our communities. The Re-Entry Bureau is an important resource that provides programming and suport for men and women returning home.
