Senator Velmanette Montgomery is proud to honor Children's Defense Fund (CDF) Founder and President Emerita Marian Wright Edelman, with a New York State Senate Legislative Resolution upon the occasion CDF New York's Beat the Odds Annual Celebration.
Marian Wright Edelman is an iconic trailblazer and tireless advocate for children and families throughout our nation. For more than 40 years, CDF has worked closely with state and local child advocates as well as national and state organizations serving children to level the playing field for children through a variety of programs and initiatives. CDF has worked to educate the public on our children at risk and provide them with the necessary tools to apply pressure to the political establishment to improve the lives of children. Through innovative programs such Freedom Schools® and Beat the Odds®, CDF is educating and empowering the next generation of leaders.
Senator Montgomery pay tributes to Marian Wright Edelman's legacy:
You are a personal hero and guiding light throughout my career. You have inspired generations of people of all ages through your visionary leadership and commitment to empowerment. You are truly one of our country’s greatest gems and words will never adequately convey the appreciation of all those whose lives you touched.
