Dear Agricultural Community Member,
Resilient agriculture and the health of our farm community is more vital than ever in keeping our food system strong, and ensuring our access to the fresh, locally grown food that sustains us. This is why New York agriculture and food businesses have been deemed essential, by executive order, during the COVID-19 pandemic.
During this challenging time, we are increasingly required to make sacrifices to help curtail the spread of the virus, including changing our business practices and social behaviors. Having access to timely information is absolutely essential, and my office has assembled this information guide for farmers and agricultural businesses. We will update this guide regularly as new information becomes available, and I encourage you to share it with others who may benefit from the information it contains.
PLEASE READ COVID-19: INFORMATION GUIDE FOR NEW YORK FARMERS & AGRICULTURE BUSINESSES.
If you have any questions or suggestions for additional resources to include in our guide, please contact my Agriculture Policy Advisor & Liaison, Deborah Dewan, at Dewan@nysenate.gov.
I recognize that these are incredibly challenging times for farmers, and I appreciate all of your efforts to keep our food system strong and produce quality food for our communities.
Thank you, and be safe.
Sincerely,
Senator Jen Metzger
Chair, Senate Agriculture Committee
