Community Update, March 16 2020

Dear Friends,

I write with a few updates as we deal with COVID-19, the coronavirus. I know it's a challenge for all of us, but we are working together with our colleagues at the local, county, and state level to respond to individual concerns, plan for the future, and try to reduce the spread of the disease. I am confident we will get through this, but it will take leadership, commitment to science, and a steady outlook.

Office update:  Due to concerns over the coronavirus, and following the recommendations of the NYS Department of Health, my staff members will be working remotely. Our district office in Port Chester is closed and our Albany office is closed as well. Please be assured that we are checking emails, phone messages & social media messages, and we will respond as quickly as possible. To reach out to my office you can leave us a voicemail at 914-934-5250 or you can email me at  smayer@nysenate.gov .

As of today, Monday, March 16th, Governor Andrew Cuomo, in coordination with Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont and New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, is requiring all restaurants, bars, and gyms to close by 8:00 PM tonight. Food (and alcohol) delivery from restaurants will still be allowed. This curfew does not apply to grocery stores or pharmacies.
If you have any COVID-19 specific related questions, you can call the 24-hour state hotline at 1-888-364-3065 or 211 here in Westchester.

Stay safe & healthy,
Shelley B. Mayer
