All About the 2020 U.S. Census

What is the Census?

The Census is a nationwide survey taken every 10 years that counts every living person in the United States. The last census was conducted in 2010, which means that the next one wiull take place this year.

Why is the Census important?

Census data is used to determine how many seatsour State gets in the U.S. Congress and how $675 Billion in federal funds is allocated among the States, including funding for our schools, hospitals, senior centers, public transportation, roads and bridges.

How do I Participate in the Census?

Starting in March, 95% of households will receive an invitation in the mail, while about 5% will have their invitation dropped off by a census worker or be interviewed in person. If Participate in the Census, will my personal information be safe?

The Census Bureau is required by law to keep your personal information safe and confidential. Your census responses responses cannot be used against you by law enforcement agencies, including U.S. immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), or to determine if you are eligible for government services.
