STATEMENT ON GOVERNOR'S 2021 STATE OF THE STATE ADDRESS

- State of the State
I agree with the Governor that New York faces unprecedented challenges, and I’m encouraged by his declaration that our top priorities in the New Year, besides defeating COVID, include reopening small businesses and rebuilding our economy, and restoring public safety.
At the same time, though, I’m aware that legislators already have introduced more than a dozen proposals to raise taxes and make our recovery that much more difficulty by making it even harder to live, work and succeed in New York State.
Rather than blaming others for the State of our State, we need our leaders to take responsibility and offer a fresh, hard look at the way that state government operates, if we are to find a path back and create the brighter future that every New Yorker deserves.
The Governor said that he would outline his ideas and provide details of his plans for our recovery in the coming days. I look forward to learning more.
