Dear Neighbor,
There is good news for New Yorkers who have been struggling to pay rent or facing potential eviction, due to a COVID-19 related hardship. Find out how new state and federal rent relief can help you by viewing my special Tenants’ Rights Forum today, May 27, at 6:00 p.m. Legal Services of the Hudson Valley will give a presentation on the latest state and federal laws that protect residents from eviction, and how eligible households can get a rental subsidy that would be delivered directly to their landlord.
The Emergency Rental Assistance program will be available to residents on June 1st at 9:00 a.m. through the Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance’s website. If you live in Yonkers the Emergency Rental Assistance program will also open on June 1st, but through the city’s website.
The Tenants Rights’ Forum can be watched in English on Zoom or Facebook, and there will be a Spanish translation available on Zoom: https://bit.ly/2SLA7ZL, which can be selected at the bottom of the screen. If you cannot watch this event live, a recording in English will be available on Facebook.
If you have any questions in advance of the forum, please email my office at scousins@nysenate.gov or call (914) 423-4031.
