Virtual Public Hearing on New York American Water Public Takeover Feasibility
February 17, 2021
On Tuesday, February 23rd at 6:00 PM New York State will host a virtual public forum to discuss the feasibility of a public takeover of New York American Water, including in the Sea Cliff/Glen Head community.
This forum will be administered by the Special Counsel for Ratepayer Protection at the New York State Department of Public Service. Comments will be part of the official record and may be utilized by the Special Counsel as part of the Department's feasibility study regarding a potential municipalization of the Long Island water company.
I encourage impacted residents to share their feedback and experience with New York American Water.
"For too long, New York American Water has preyed on the customers of Nassau County, gouging them for the most basic service -- water." Senator Gaugrhan said. "I welcome the State hearings and look forward to continuing our rigorous efforts to establish public water in the Sea Cliff and Glen Head communities."
