January 27, 2021
At the January 27th New York State Legislature Joint Budget hearing, led by Finance Committee Chair Liz Krueger, Senator José M. Serrano had the opportunity to speak with and ask questions of NY State Parks & Historic Sites Commissioner Erik Kulleseid regarding the proposed State funding for parks.
"During the pandemic, our parks became our refuge, providing a healthy place for families and individuals to get outside while maintaining safety and social distancing," said Senator Serrano. "As Chair of the Senate committee overseeing parks, I look forward to working with my colleagues in government and advocates in our community to help ensure that we continue to protect and enhance our beloved parks as the number of visitors to our green spaces continues to grow."
The legislators also heard testimony from New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Commissioner, Basil Seggos; New York State Department of Agriculture & Markets Commissioner, Richard A. Ball; New York State Public Service Commission Chair, John B. Rhodes; and a number of other environmental groups and organizations.
