Governor Cuomo Signs Serrano Bill to Prohibit Glyphosate on State Parks and Lands
January 29, 2021
This week, Governor Cuomo signed a bill sponsored by Senator José M. Serrano (S.899) prohibiting applications of the dangerous herbicide Glyphosate on State property into law.
"This law is a big first step in cutting back unnecessary herbicide usage, making a commitment to New Yorkers to prevent unknown or unwanted exposure to toxic chemicals when enjoying state property," said Senator Serrano.
"Let’s continue examining our practices and evaluating the risks versus rewards in regards to the chemicals our families and pets are exposed to on a daily basis. I thank Governor Cuomo for his partnership in finalizing this legislation, Assemblymember Rosenthal for her leadership in the Assembly, Senate Environmental Conservation Committee Chair Todd Kaminsky for his efforts gaining passage through the State Senate, as well as our environmental partners.
