Senator Serrano and Assembly Member Seawright Advocate for Roosevelt Island Vaccination Site
January 22, 2021
Senator José M. Serrano and Assembly Member Rebecca Seawright wrote a letter to Mayor Bill de Blasio requesting a COVID-19 vaccination site on Roosevelt Island.
"We understand that the City is doing everything possible to ensure that all New Yorkers are vaccinated in order to move quickly toward recovery. Roosevelt Island is home to more than 11,000 people, many of who belong to populations vulnerable to COVID-19, including a significant number of seniors and people with disabilities. In light of the island's unique geography and the challenges created by limited transportation options, having a vaccination site on Roosevelt Island will ensure that residents who are eligible during the current phase of the rollout can be safely vaccinated as soon as possible."
